Use Microsoft Power Apps for your SME CRM
One of the challenges for small and medium enterprises (SME) is how to build your operations using the right Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools.
Many will start out with the right approach, eschewing Excel because they know it will quickly become unmanageable.
But they are often unsure about what is the right answer.
There’s a lot of hype and promotion pushed at small business owners around SaaS products such as Zoho and Hubspot, while many are put off by
the perception that Microsoft Dynamics 365 is both costly and for the big guys.
The answer is Microsoft Power Apps, a flexible, cheap, scalable solution that works for your business now – and, crucially, is built on the
same platform as Microsoft Dynamics 365 so that it grows as you do.
Not only that, it is increasingly well integrated with the whole Microsoft suite, so that it works seamlessly with Sharepoint, Teams, Office
and Outlook.
What’s not to like?
We have been advising any number of SMEs over the past 12 months or so, on how to get started with their CRM activity and the key has often been to
go down the route of Model-driven Power Apps (as opposed to the more limited Canvas Power Apps).
Power Apps provide the building blocks for you to construct exactly what you need from a CRM system – and future-proof it as your business grows
by being entirely consistent with Dynamics 365.
Obviously, Microsoft are pushing the Power Apps product hard and therefore have recognized that cost is a huge factor for SMEs.
So, the license cost of Power Apps per user is a fraction of a license for Dynamics, but you still have all the Dynamics 365 platform capability under the bonnet.
One of the things I like about Power Apps, compared to those over-hyped SaaS brands, is that Model-driven apps can be customized and structured
for you and your business: it’s not a one-size fits all solution, that means you either have too much of one thing and not enough of another.
